GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT: POSITION OPENING

Nanotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, and Synthetic Biology Consultant (2 positions available)

IN THIS ROLE:

You will deliver direct services to students, staff, and districts and provide professional development, consulting services, and leadership with the K-12 Career Readiness Unit within the Student Services Department. As a Nanotech, AI, and Synthetic Biology Consultant, you will be pivotal in our innovative K-12 Nanotech, AI, and Synthetic Biology Lab. We are seeking individuals with a master’s degree or higher in Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a closely related field. Demonstrated expertise in Nanotechnology is essential, complemented by a solid foundation in basic molecular biology and cell culture. Experience with animal models is preferred but not mandatory. You will assist district staff and students to connect to business and industry meaningfully to help prepare all students for careers. You will carry out the county-wide plan that supports STEM-integrated content development based on real-world examples, professional development to support educators, and in-class coaching to support teachers and students in the implementation of relevant, problem-based content.

Our lab serves 28 independent local districts, providing a unique opportunity to engage with K-12 students and educators. You'll have the chance to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators through hands-on demonstrations, workshops, and collaborative projects.

WHAT WE NEED

· Models scientific and medical research in fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and synthetic biology.

· Guides and supports educators in integrating nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and synthetic biology principles into K-12 curriculums effectively.

· Provides tailored professional learning opportunities to district educators and empowers them to confidently implement advanced scientific concepts in their classrooms.

· Collaborates closely with supervisors and educators to develop comprehensive, engaging instructional materials and activities tailored to diverse learning styles.

· Assists districts in scaling nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and synthetic biology initiatives across their educational programs, ensuring equitable access and impactful implementation.

· Stays abreast of the latest nanotechnology, AI, and synthetic biology developments to ensure curriculum alignment with cutting-edge advancements.

· Provides continuous support and mentorship to district educators and offers personalized guidance and troubleshooting assistance as they navigate implementing complex scientific concepts in their classrooms.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED:

· Master’s degree or higher in Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a closely related field.

· Relevant coursework in Nanotechnology, AI, Synthetic Biology, molecular biology, and cell culture.

· Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a research or educational setting.

· Deep understanding of educational systems, legal issues, policies, research and trends in Career Readiness.

· A valid Michigan Teacher and/or vocational endorsement is preferred.

SALARY DETAILS:

$96,106 - $111,453.00 based on experience, with the potential of earning up to $120,023.00 Annually / Exempt Position / 12-month work year
