The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering to undertake research and participate in the development and delivery of our Mechanical Engineering programme. The post-holder should be research-active in at least one of the following Mechanical Engineering fields:

Advanced Manufacturing;
Dynamics and Vibration;

The post-holder should also have current experience of planning and delivering lecture-based teaching on a modern Mechanical Engineering degree programme.

The successful candidates will have a strong research background, demonstrated by a track record of high-quality publications and other research outputs. Strong communication and team-working skills as well as a higher degree in a relevant discipline are essential.

As Lecturer in Mechanical engineering you will:

teach and convene modules across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate provision, and contribute to curriculum development in this area
conduct research at an international level and meet the research activity targets set for each individual member of staff
undertake module and programme administration and assessment;

To be successful in this role you will have:

a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area or other evidence of delivering research of a high quality, commensurate with a research-intensive institution with an undergraduate or Masters-level degree in Mechanical Engineering
experience of developing and delivering a lecture course on a modern mechanical engineering degree programmes
a willingness and ability to contribute to the outreach and recruitment activities of the School and Division.

The School of Engineering, within the Division of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, offers a BEng Programme in Mechanical Engineering covering a range of topics including: computer-aided design, smart materials, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics, additive manufacturing, control and instrumentation, product durability, and robotics and mechatronics.
