Data teams all over the world use Great Expectations to instrument and understand their data and machine learning pipelines.
This is an exciting time at GX. Our open source community continues to grow rapidly, and this year we’ll launch our first cloud offering. As a member of the Developer Relations team, you will have the opportunity to shape our developer experience and continue building a community for data practitioners from around the world that includes startups, leaders in tech, and fortune 500 companies.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Creating and upholding a high standard for developer documentation.
Working with cross-functional teams such as engineering, marketing, developer relations, and product to ensure timely, thorough, and accurate documentation of new product features.
Maintaining and updating existing documentation as needed to ensure thorough, accurate, and clear content.
Being an internal champion for the interest of our developers and open source contributors in all matters pertaining to documentation.
Specifically, you will:
Write robust technical and reference documentation such as task-based how-to’s, end-to-end tutorials, reference sheets, and conceptual guides.
Create functional example scripts to include in our documentation, in collaboration with engineering.
Follow provided style guidance to maintain consistency of quality, style, tone, and voice across a growing body of technical content.
Revise application program interface (API) documents, user interface (UI) text, command line interface (CLI) strings, and error messages.
Incorporate multimedia content into the documentation, including videos, architectural diagrams, and more.
Engage in the review and editing of documentation content submitted by internal colleagues and external open source contributors.
Work directly with open source contributors to gain feedback on their use of documentation and synthesize this research into actionable items.
Contribute to improvements in internal processes and procedures as our team grows and matures.

The salary range for this role is $116,000-$149,500 plus equity. Our offers are made by taking into account the skill level, experience and location of the specific candidate. In addition to our compensation package, we offer a competitive suite of benefits.
What you bring:
A solid writing background, including 2+ years as a writer or editor.
Demonstrable hands-on programming experience and foundations; you will be coding up to 25% of your time in this role.
The ability to clearly and concisely convey technical information to data developers.
A passion for cultivating a positive developer experience and providing educational material to an inquisitive and motivated audience.
It’d be nice if you also had:
Previous experience working in data engineering, including knowledge of current data engineering tools and trends.
Direct experience with data work in Python, SQL, Spark, etc.
Experience as an open source contributor or maintainer.
Data in your blood. The more curiosity you have about a wide variety of data from all walks of life, the better.
