We are looking for a Director of Engineering who will oversee the team, processes, development, and execution of our SaaS-based business intelligence platform Hummingbird PXM. The director will work closely with product management and data engineering to provide a delightful user experience in a data rich environment.
Responsibilities
- Define product architecture to meet business needs and growth plans.Â
- Build an effective cross-functional product development team. Responsible for recruiting, coaching, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of team members
- Work closely with product management to construct an optimal execution plan against the roadmap
- Communicate clear data requirements to the platform group
- Responsible for project management to include scope, timeline, milestones, risk management & mitigation, and communication
- Build a Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) that drives value to customers in a highly iterative manner
- Drive quality through the product lifecycle from feature selection, requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and escalation.
- Work closely with designers to ensure product requirements are built with the customer in mind
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent professional experience
- 10+ years of experience developing software in a commercial agile environment
- 5+ years of experience architecting software product solutions
- 1-3 years of experience managing cross functional engineering teams
- Excellent decision-making abilities. Understands what tech debt projects to invest in and what to defer, balances velocity and maintainability
- Strong background in java software development and modern web framework design principles
- Experience building automated quality CI/CD deployment pipelines following social coding best practices
- Has built scalable cloud-based products on a distributed database
- Confident building secure enterprise software programs to include OWASP development practices, vulnerability remediation, and Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) library management
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and motivate software engineers
- Team-first mindset. Recognizes that a high functioning supportive team is the best driver of success
- Ability to communicate plans, timelines, and architecture decisions to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in the hospitality industry is a bonus
Salary - $140,000 - $150,000
Eligible to participate in the company bonus program
