About the role
We are a small but growing engineering team working in a full-remote setting building end-to-end solutions for reskilling and career mobility.
As the Engineering Manager, you’ll be a vital part of this mission by setting the right tone for our engineering team and helping our talented team to grow every day. Your role will be to unlock the full potential of our talented engineers and create an environment where they can deliver their best work. You’ll bring tried and tested management practices, as well as take bets together on initiatives never seen before. In this role, you will lead and manage projects from idea to production. In this small but growing team, you’ll be coaching team members of all seniority levels across squads and projects. You will work closely with the CTO to ensure that our engineering processes are top-notch, we make the right engineering and company decisions, and ultimately, that solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
Your day-to-day

Leading a team of 10 engineers organized as squads including all people management pieces such as formulating team goals and creating alignment across all engineers, driving engagement initiatives, running regular and high-quality 1on1s and career development conversations, conducting performance reviews and owning the onboarding of new joiners

Actively participate in talent acquisition and drive high-quality hiring decisions

Working closely with product managers, customers, and business teams to design, build and release new products

Direct the ongoing development and maintenance of existing products

Mentoring and coaching team members to help them grow in the role

Determining training and development needs for each team member
-
Provide clear goals and prioritization of activities within the engineering team

Seek efficiency and lead efforts to continuously develop and optimize engineering processes

Ensure architectural and technical guidelines are followed

Coordinate activities with other managers and across departments
About You
-
Proven track record as an Engineering Manager successfully leading high performing teams in a fast paced results oriented organization
-
Strong technical background in developing web applications with NodeJS and React
-
Experience building REST based API’s on SQL/NoSQL databases
-
Experience deploying and operating production applications in AWS
-
Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems
-
Comfortable making critical decisions with imperfect information
-
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
-
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality delivered on time
-
Excellent organizational skills
-
Payments or lending experience preferred
