About the position
We are looking for an experienced Node.js backend software engineer to join our Software Development Department. You will develop our products based on user, product and business requirements, in collaboration with your Team Leader, Architect and the Product Department.
Our products are used by shipping company engineers and captains to optimise the technical operations and navigation of their vessels based on our in-house developed AI and optimisation algorithms. You will need to gain a good understanding of the domain and our research output to design improvements that make our backend infrastructure scalable and cover our customers’ needs.
Our cloud platform is hosted on AWS, and we are in the process of transitioning our infrastructure to container orchestration using EKS.
Necessary:

Proven hands-on Software Development experience in Node.js ( version 18+ )

Strong knowledge of at least one Node.js framework (Express, NestJS, Koa.js etc)

SQL knowledge, especially related to query efficiency and optimization

Experience with both external and embedded databases (relational), as well as with cache engines (lru-cache, Redis)

Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
-
Familiarity with npm
-
Solid understanding of both functional and object-oriented programming paradigms
-
Familiar with various design and architectural patterns, especially concurrent ones
-
Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
-
Skill for writing reusable Node.js libraries
-
Knack for writing clean, readable Node.js code
-
Familiarity with concepts of MVC, DB connection pools, ORM and RESTful
-
Basic understanding of the libuv library, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds

Microservice architecture

Implementing unit tests
-
Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication (also in English).

Knowledge of Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem
