Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and manage a team of software developers.
- Foster a collaborative environment and provide mentorship and guidance.
- Facilitate career development plans and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Product Development and Delivery:
- Ensure product releases are on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Understand and oversee the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and set priorities.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Develop and enforce quality assurance processes.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with QA teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality products
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Work with leadership to align engineering strategy with company goals.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes as needed.
- Assist in budget planning and manage resources effectively.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Facilitate clear and concise communication within the engineering team and with other departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience with Git (Gitlab preferred)
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in working with application databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
Even Better, But Not Required:
- Based in Birmingham or willing to relocate.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, Pivotal Tracker.
- Ability to write tests in RSpec.
- Familiarity with Python and Flask.
- Experience in Microsoft Bot Framework.
- Proficiency in AWS cloud services.
- Familiarity with machine learning engineering
