About the Job

Interviews will be in two stages:

Stage 1: 10 March 2023 (micro-teach)
Stage 2: 14 March 2023 (panel interview)

(Applicants successful in Stage 1 will be shortlisted to Stage 2)

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with specialisation in one or more of the following areas:

Electrical and Electronics Principles
Electronic Engineering Practice
Analogue and Digital Electronics
Computer Simulation and Modelling
Advanced Electro-Mechanical System Design
Advanced Digital Electronics

The post holder will be expected to lecture on modules and programmes at undergraduate/postgraduate levels and take on programme leadership duties (Senior Lecturer). The post holder will have the ability to offer knowledge and experience particularly in the above areas of specialisation, although expertise to flexibly support other computing-related disciplines is desirable. The post holder will also be expected to develop and manage critical aspects of the expanding research and enterprise activities within the Technology Subject Area.

About you

You should have a demonstrable track record of providing an outstanding research-informed, personalised student learning (or industry) experience; demonstrating creativity and innovation in the effective development, planning, delivery, and assessment of a wide variety of learning opportunities to enable high quality mentoring/student outcomes.

You should be able to provide high quality management of modules and programmes (Senior Lecturer), taking a proactive approach to the implementation of established quality assurance processes, contributing to the design and implementation of quality enhancement initiatives, and undertaking all necessary associated administration.

You should be able to show that you can:

undertake personal tutorial support and provide a key academic point of contact for students
communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues in the development and delivery of programmes and modules
participate in emerging academic, professional and research practices
demonstrate how you develop and/or maintain a personal record of published research and scholarly outputs, for example subject specific and/or pedagogic research or case studies, at national and preferably international level, and how you would make a proactive contribution to securing external funding to support this activity
contribute to securing and delivering financially sustainable enterprise activities, examples of which may include: applied research, consultancy, corporate training/education, knowledge exchange

Qualifications

Essential:

Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale

Desirable:

Master’s degree in relevant subject
Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
Relevant professional qualification
